Join YJ Teens in Upstate NY (location given upon registration) from May 30 to June 2, 2024 for our annual Northeast Convention! Come for a weekend of seeing old friends and making new ones while exploring aspects of Jewish identity, Zionism, pluralism, and tikkun olam. All programs and activities will be planned and run by the members of the 2023-2024 Northeast Mazkirut, our teen governing leadership board. Participants will have the opportunity to elect their peers to the 2024-2025 Northeast Mazkirut and make their voices heard!

Travel Information
ARRIVAL GUIDELINES FOR THURSDAY, MAY 30TH, 2024
There are TWO options for arrival to Northeast Convention:
- DRIVE
Participants should be dropped off at Convention between 7:00 PM and 8:00PM EST. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, we ask that participants do not drive themselves to and from convention. For accommodations, please email us directly to discuss. All car keys will be held by senior staff for the duration of the event.
- BUS
We will provide buses from a number of spots throughout New York and New Jersey. This bus may stop at any of the following: Newark Airport, Westchester, Long Island, the Upper West Side, Brooklyn. Stops will be determined based on interest; locations are dependent on demand. These buses will depart their locations between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm ET.
DEPARTURE GUIDELINES FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 2ND, 2024.
There are TWO options for departure from Northeast Convention:
- DRIVE
Participants should be picked up at Convention between 7:30am and 8:30am EST. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, we ask that participants do not drive themselves to and from convention. For accommodations, please email us directly to discuss. All car keys will be held by senior staff for the duration of the event.
- BUS
The bus from Convention will be going directly to a location in Manhattan where our teens will drop their baggage and travel together to NYC Israel Parade. We encourage parents and family members to meet us there and participate with our group in the Parade. Arrival is estimated to be 10 AM ET. Young Judaea will be attending the parade as a delegation. Any teen who does not wish to stay for the parade may choose to leave from our drop off location. We will share more information and logistics about participating in the parade as we get closer.
I’m coming from further away. Can I fly to convention?
If you are coming from further away and intend to fly in, please first reach out to yjteens@youngjudaea.org to coordinate travel times.
Can I drive myself to convention?
To ensure the safety of our participants, while parents are welcomed to drive participants to/from convention, participants are strongly discouraged from driving to/from convention themselves. If this is necessary, please contact the office at yjteens@youngjudaea.org to request special permission. All car keys will be held by senior staff for the duration of the event.
Scholarship
GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
We are committed to ensuring that every teen interested in attending convention is able to go and will do our best to accommodate. Funds are made available from the leadership teens raising money locally and nationally and are limited.
Please submit this SCHOLARSHIP REQUEST FORM by May 1 to receive subsidy towards convention. We will be doing rolling acceptance for Northeast Convention scholarships; please do not register for convention until you have heard back from us about scholarships. The deadline to register upon hearing back from us is May 10.
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your participation on or before May 3, 2024 you will be eligible for a refund of the total program fee. If you cancel on or before May 10, 2024 you will be eligible for a 50% refund of the total program fee. On or after May 11, 2024, no refunds will be available. Regardless of when you cancel, if cancellation occurs after you have purchased an airline ticket, you will be responsible for the full price of the airline ticket. No refunds will be given for participants who are dismissed and/or otherwise removed from or leave National Convention for any reason (voluntary or involuntary) once the program has commenced. Young Judaea reserves the right to cancel National Convention, or change any of the itineraries due to low enrollment, security or other reasons as determined by Young Judaea’s sole and absolute discretion. Program prices are subject to change in Young Judaea’s sole and absolute discretion.
Note: All flight expenses are the responsibility of the participant.

Who is eligible to come to Northeast Convention?
All Jewish teens, grades 8-12, regardless of their past Young Judaea experience, who are interested in becoming more involved in Young Judaea, exploring Israel, social activism and being together for Shabbat.
What happens at Northeast Convention?
Northeast Convention is an annual gathering of Young Judaea’s participants, members, leaders and friends to observe Shabbat together and learn about issues relevant to Judaism, Israel, Pluralism and Zionism. High quality programming will be offered to all Jewish teens, regardless of their current or previous levels of involvement in Young Judaea. Participants will have the opportunity to elect their peers to the 2024-2025 Northeast Mazkirut, our teen governing leadership board.
When is the registration deadline and what must be submitted?
Deadline to register is May 10, 2024.

Is scholarship available?
Yes, there is limited scholarship available. Please fill out this SCHOLARSHIP REQUEST FORM to be considered. Deadline to complete the form is May 1, 2024.
